Human Rights Day, 10th December 2023
15 Dec 2023
The Time for Human Rights is Now
Students received an assembly on Human Rights Day, 10 December 2023, which celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Declaration, a milestone celebration called Human Rights 75 (HR 75).
What is the theme for Human Rights Day in 2023?
“Freedom, Equality and Justice for All” is the theme adopted for Human Rights Day this year. It serves as a reminder that these principles are universal against the backdrop of ongoing wars, persecution of certain communities and unequitable access to justice.
What are the 5 basic human rights?
Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination.
A Christmas Carol comes to PVA in December 2023
12 Dec 2023
It’s a cold, bleak, biting Christmas Eve and old miser Scrooge is not full of the Christmas spirit. In fact he hates Christmas…(“humbug!” he calls it.) But on returning home he suddenly finds himself visited by four ghostly apparitions come to teach him a lesson; his old partner Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet To Come.
“If I could work my will, every idiot who goes about with ‘Merry Christmas’ on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart….”
But as Christmas day dawns are these apparitions and their dire warnings enough to make Scrooge see the error of his ways?
Michael Whitmore’s faithful new adaptation is taken exclusively from the original text, capturing the spirit and style of this Dickens classic whilst reinforcing the key quotations from the book. The production at Park Vale Academy was to support Year 10 students with their GCSE study, and allow them to see an interpretation of the text being performed.

Writing a Mini Saga
You’ll be writing your speculative fiction in the form of a mini saga.
A mini saga is a story told in 100 words. There are three golden rules you need to stick to:
•Be original! You can be inspired by other stories, but the plot must be entirely your own.
• Keep to the 100 word limit every word counts!
•Remember that mini sagas still need to have a beginning, a middle and an end.
