Uniform: Ready for the New School Year
29 Aug 2022
In preparation for the new school year please could you support the school and ensure that students do not return to school with:
Make-Up
False nails or nail varnish
False eyelashes
Facial piercings (a single small nose-stud only is permitted)
Dyed hair or extreme haircuts
Trainers, pumps or boots
Jewellery (Students may wear one pair of small studs in the lower earlobe only)
All students at Park Vale Academy, from Year 7 to Year 11, wear uniform. The wearing of a uniform makes an important contribution to the tone and reputation of the academy. We like students to come here looking smart and business-like and ready to work. Students without the correct uniform will be offered substitute items in order for them to remain in lessons.
Thank you for your support. Any issue please contact school before the start of the term to avoid any issues on the first day. Further details can also be found here Uniform Expectations.
We are looking forward to seeing students return to us on Thursday 1 September.

Dance Academy Tour 2022
28 Aug 2022
Well done to our students for another successful tour. Every year the entire Dance Academy (Primary, Junior and Senior sections) tour ten local schools. They perform their latest pieces to the whole school in assembly and give an educational talk on the meaning behind each piece.
After the performance, the Dance Academy teaches small sections of each dance to groups from a class within the school. After each group has developed the performance material, the class perform what they have learnt back to their school in assembly.

Meet our Brilliant Club Graduates 2022
12 Aug 2022
Park Vale Academy are celebrating Y9/Y10 students completing the prestigious Scholars Programme, run by award-winning charity, The Brilliant Club.
The Brilliant club is a charity that recruits, trains and places doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in non-selective state schools to deliver university style courses and tutorials based on their own area of expertise.
The Scholars Programme supports students from ages 8-18, with the aim of increasing the number of state school students progressing to a Russell group university. The programme encourages students to develop the skills, knowledge, and ambition to secure a place at a highly selective university and provides them with the confidence to excel in the next phase of their education.
Following the programme’s online launch event and tutorials with their PhD tutor, the students wrote a mini version of a dissertation. After submitting their written essay, the students’ work was marked and they were given a university style grade such as a first or 2:1. The final part of the programme concludes with students receiving a certificate upon completion and attending a virtual graduation ceremony.
All our students who have graduated from The Scholars Programme have benefitted hugely from the experience and it has certainly helped them stand out in their university applications. The academy are particularly proud of this cohort for undertaking the programme so successfully whilst remote learning in lockdown and would like to thank The Brilliant Club for ensuring our students could still take part in this amazing opportunity.
