Class 2022 [Ex-Year 11] Presentation Evening
1 Jun 2023
On Thursday 23rd March, we enjoyed another fantastic evening at Park Vale Academy celebrating the achievements of the class of 2022. Last year’s “Year 11” had much to celebrate and should be very proud of their collective achievements.
The whole evening was another excellent showcase for Park Vale Academy, as students proudly collected their GCSE certificates to the warm applause of friends, family and PVA staff. It was clear that many students had again achieved their personal best, and their months of hard work and determination had paid dividends.
Whilst there was considerable academic success to celebrate, also on display was a wide range of talent from the Academy’s choir and an excellent drama monologue performance from Jack as Sweeney Todd – the demon barber.
Staff, friends and families were in attendance to celebrate these achievements with our students at our Ex-Year 11 Presentation Evening. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!
Outstanding individual achievements were recognised in subject awards for the highest attainment in each subject.

As well as in prizes for exceptional attendance, progress and attainment across the curriculum. A range of ‘special’ awards were also presented to recognise individual’s contribution to the academy.
Attendance Awards were presented Kian Harris, Brianna Longmore and Macy Rennicks who had 99% attendance across their 5 years at the academy.
The Exceptional Attendance Award was presented to Olivia Jacklin who has achieved 100% attendance across her 5 years at the academy.
Awards for Contribution to School went to Arley Moss and Sophia Amaro.
The Contribution to Sport Awards were presented to Ellie Rogers and Taylor Walters.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
The Best Academic Progress Award recognise the student with the highest progress scores based on the value added from Key Stage 2 to GCSE. This award was presented to Polina Abramchuk.
The Best Overall GCSE Performance Award recognises the student who has achieved the best grades across all of the subjects. This prestigious award was presented to Ebony Walker to a rapturous applause from the audience.
The evening closed with an inspirational address from the Headteacher who encouraged everyone to make the most of opportunities and to drive ourselves forward in order to take ownership of the future and maximise their potential. A poem about Unity was shared to show how our families and schools work together as partners in education, in the best interest of our children.
“One was a teacher, the tools that were used were books, music and art.
The other a parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle, loving heart”.
“For behind the parent stood the school, and behind the teacher stood the home.”

Questions you may wish to ask at parents’ evenings
Jot down a list of questions and/or observations (not too many, though) on each subject in advance so you’re your appointments are focused and make the most of the limited time.
Some useful questions might be:
- Is my child’s progress in line with the teacher’s expectations?
- Has he or she done anything particularly well, or badly?
- What can he or she do to improve?
- Are they attending the extra revision sessions after school?
- How can I help as a parent?
- How can you help as his or her teacher?
- How much time should my child’s homework for this subject take?
- How much time should my child be reading for?
- What do his or her grades tell us about possible performance in important future exams?
- Does he or she contribute in lessons?
- How does my child get along with the other pupils in the class and the teachers?
Make a note on the night of the teachers’ answers – after a couple of hours whisking from one subject to another, it can be easy to forget or muddle the comments.
…And more questions
Most teachers have a wealth of knowledge and experience, so ask for their guidance and suggestions on how you can help your child to do their best in the subject. If a teacher says something you don’t understand, ask for clarification. Parents are not expected to know all about a subject or a method of teaching.
Constructive criticism
Good teaching means identifying areas for improvement, so don’t be offended if you hear criticism of your child. This should always be constructive and designed to help them to achieve their potential in the subject. If your child is with you, try not to sound disappointed or negative – or tell your child off! Take the advice of the teacher as a positive step towards better marks in the future. Remember that it’s rarely helpful to compare your child’s performance to other members of the class, set or year group – what’s important is that they are achieving in line with their own capabilities, not those of others.
