Year 11 Commendation Evening

6 Nov 2020

Students of Year 11 and their families attended the Y11 Commendation Evening on the 3rd May 2018.

The evening started with a delightful performance from the Academy Choir who set a great tone to start the event. The evening aimed to celebrate students’ achievements during their time at Park Vale Academy. Students were recognised for their progress, attitude to learning, attendance and significant contribution. Heads of Houses were on hand to announce the awards for students in their Houses and to wish them well in their future endeavours as they prepare to leave the academy.

Our Class of 2017 were also invited and were presented with their examination certificates. Students were recognised for Best Subject Performance and Best Overall Progress.

We also had a fantastic dance performance by Amelia, Miya, Caitlyn and Lucy who received a rapturous applause from the audience. A piece choreographed by the students themselves as part of their GCSE work.

The final presentations of the evening were for Overall Commendations 2018 awarded to Collins Okojie and Overall Best GCSE Performance 2017 awarded to Kaden, both receiving an academy shield from Head Teacher, Mr Bowhay.

All this coupled with an emotional video montage of the last five years made sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the end of the night.  We’re looking forward to many more evenings like this to celebrate our students’ successes.   Well done to them all.

Students Learn Life Saving CPR Skills

6 Nov 2020

Fewer than 1 in 10 people who have an out of hospital cardiac arrest in the UK currently survive. Students at Park Vale Academy are helping to create a nation of life savers and change that for the better.

Throughout April and May, the majority of students at the academy are being taught the lifesaving skills of CPR. Using resources from the British Heart Foundation students are learning and practicing CPR. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving skill and the training the students receive may one day prove vital in saving a life.

The students watched an instructional video and are then taken through the process step by step by the PE staff, working on realistic dummies to show how effective their technique is and which click to show them how far down they had to press during chest compressions.

Feedback from the students has been very positive.

“I know I can save a member of my family and that makes me feel happy”

Redhill Academy Trust in the national list of Top Ten Academy Trusts

Message from Andrew Burns, Executive Principal of the Redhill Academy Trust

Last week, it was announced that the Redhill Academy Trust has made the Department of Education’s list of the ten most effective academy trusts in England. Rated as ‘well above average’, the Redhill Trust is the highest ranking trust based in the East Midlands.

Obviously, this is great news for the staff and students in Redhill Trust academies. Over the last few years, we have learned that improving schools requires hard work, determination and enough time for new strategies to start working fully. It is testament to the skills and dedication of our staff at all levels that the Trust features on this list. We are, however, certainly not complacent and know that yet more improvements can be made in the interests of all our students.
