Year 11 Tutor Reviews – Friday 18th October 2024. School closes 2.05 pm on this day.

Good morning,
A reminder that PVA has Year 11 Tutor Reviews will take place week commencing Monday 14th October 2024. There will be an early finish for all students at 2.05 pm on Friday 18th October to accommodate these review meetings.
These meetings add to our partnership work with parents in helping to secure outstanding results for students. During the review week all parents and students should attend a 20 minute face to face meeting.
Review meetings are an opportunity for parents to come into the academy to meet with their child’s tutor to discuss their pastoral development and set agreed targets for the year ahead. Later in the year there will also be a subject based parents’ evening where parents will have the opportunity to speak to their child’s subject teachers about their progress in their subjects,
Year 11 Review Meetings – Week commencing: Monday 14th October 2024

Later in the year there will also be a subject based parents’ evening where parents will have the opportunity to speak to their child’s subject teachers about their progress in their subjects, this is happening on Wednesday 8th January 2025 4:00pm-7:00pm.
When will the review meetings take place?
School will finish at the end of period 4 (2.10pm) for all year groups on Friday 18th October 2024. This is done to provide an opportunity for parents to meet their child’s form tutor for around twenty minutes.
How to book a review meeting with your child’s tutor
Your child will be responsible for making the appointment with their tutor for you. We are aware that not everyone can attend at this time of the day or on that day, please indicate the time that you wish to attend and ask your child to tell their form tutor who will confirm. A message confirming the date and time will be sent to you via Class Charts.
Where will the meeting take place?
Meetings usually take place in the dining room if they are taking place on the day that we close early. Please arrange to meet your child at school and they can bring you to the dining room via main reception. If the meeting is taking place at another time, please come to reception and your child’s tutor will meet you there.

Academy Exam Success Continues with “Best Ever” GCSE Results 2024

Congratulations to all of our Year 11 students for an amazing set of exam results this year. They are the best ever in the academy’s history and bear testament to the hard of the students, but also that of our staff. The academy’s teaching team deliver fabulous lessons day in day out to support all our students to achieve their very best. The academy wish the class of 2024 every success in their next stage in life though many of them are already enrolled at our Redhill 6th form.
The headline GCSE results improved again with 57.1% of students [an increase of 6.1% from last year] met the benchmark of grades of 9–4 in both English and Maths, with 34% [an increase of 5.4% from last year] securing grades 9–5 in both subjects.
Stand out top performers included:
- Kofi Agyenim-Boateng who achieved four Grade 9s, two Grade 8 and one Grade 7, plus a level 2 Distinction
- Kulansa Amarasekara who achieved five Grade 9s, two Grade 8s, two Grade 7s, plus a level 2 Distinction
- Harmann Anand who secured four Grade 9s and two Grade 7s and one Grade 5.
- Kajetan Gawrychowski who achieved five Grade 9, two Grade 7s and one Grade 6, plus a level 2 Distinction

Results Day this year is Thursday 22nd August and school will be open from 9am until 11am for Year 11 to collect your results from the Main Hall. Results not collected that morning will be posted out in the afternoon.

End of Term & Start of Term Arrangements

The last day of school this term is Friday 26th July. We will have our traditional lunchtime finish on that day so students will therefore be dismissed at 12.20 pm. However, free school meals will be available to those who are eligible as they leave the site.
The school re-opens to students on Monday 2nd September and, as usual, we will operate a staggered start for different year groups on that day to provide a smooth and orderly start to the to the new term. The relevant start times and instructions for each year group appear below.
Arrangements for the first day of the new academic year for students:
Monday 2nd September 2024:
Year 7: Arrive at 8.45am and go directly to the Main Hall
Year 11: Arrive at 8.45am and go directly to Tutor Rooms
Years 8, 9, 10: Arrive at 9.45am and go directly to Tutor Rooms
Uniform Expectations
Please can I also draw your attention to the information on the reverse of this letter regarding the school’s uniform guidelines for the coming year. All students at Park Vale Academy, from Year 7 to Year 11, wear uniform. The wearing of a uniform makes an important contribution to the tone and reputation of the academy. We like students to come here looking smart and business-like and ready to work. Students without the correct uniform will be offered substitute items in order for them to remain in lessons.
