The Brilliant Club – 2022
At Park Vale Academy we are constantly looking at ways to stretch our more able students. As part of our support for more able students we partner with the Brilliant Club and offer students the opportunity to participate in the Scholars Programme. Each year, a number of our most able students will participate in the scholars programme, benefiting from expert university tuition and the chance to visit Cambridge University.
Students can also access a wide range or resources from their website. There are also some university masterclasses on a variety of subjects for students to listen to and experience what university learning might be like. We recommend that any student look at the resources and masterclasses that are available for free on the Brilliant Club YouTube channel.

What is The Brilliant Club?
The Brilliant Club (a university access charity who work with schools) have made available a range of sessions to view on university information, advice and guidance, which are suitable for pupils from age 10-18 interested in learning more about university and the application process. The Brilliant Club exists to increase the number of pupils from under-represented backgrounds progressing to highly selective universities. They do this by mobilising the PhD community to share its academic expertise with state schools.
What They Do
In pursuit of its mission, The Brilliant Club runs two core programmes; The Scholars Programme and Researchers in Schools.
The Scholars Programme
The Scholars Programme recruits, trains and places doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in schools to deliver programmes of university-style tutorials, which are supplemented by two university trips.
